Finding Your Personal Style

Creating an elegant wardrobe starts with understanding your personal style.

If you are here, you probably want to strengthen your classy image and own pieces that will help you elevate your lifestyle and personal brand. This is the first guideline for your personal style.

Reflect on the pieces and outfits you gravitate towards and that make you feel your best.

Which type of items do you prefer? Do you feel your best wearing a feminine look, or perhaps a professional one? Would you rather wear minimal clothes or items that have more details?

Is your ideal outfit more relaxed and casual, or tailored and formal? Do you prefer classic silhouettes, modern minimalism, or vintage-inspired designs?

Curate a list of three words (or terms) that represent your preferences. Ideally, all of the items in your closet should relate to one of those words.

By identifying your style, you can make more intentional choices that align with your overall aesthetic. This will make getting dressed easier, more intuitive, and more enjoyable.

Your personal style is unique to you and should make you feel comfortable and confident. Remember that your style can evolve as you grow, and change with your taste and personal image.

Start With a Closet Cleanout

The first step to building an elegant wardrobe is decluttering your current closet to ensure it aligns with your current self and style. Cleaning your closet will give you a clear view of what you own and what you need to invest in.

Start by taking everything out of the closet and sorting it into keep, tailor, donate, and sell piles.

Discard worn, damaged, or outdated clothes that no longer fit you, or that simply don’t align with your style. Donate or sell items that are in good condition but don’t serve you anymore.

Remove anything that doesn’t bring you joy, confidence, or fits your elegant personal brand.

Don’t keep things for hypothetical future events; if you haven’t worn something in a while it’s likely unnecessary.

I’m a huge believer in investing and saving, and I generally try not to spend a lot on my wardrobe. So, I try to sell everything I can when I clean out my closet. Any earnings from selling unworn items are recycled back and used for new ones.

This method helps me curate my closet and add new pieces without guilt and also prevents me from being lazy and keeping/donating items I can otherwise sell.

You will see that a well-organized and decluttered closet will help make the most out of your current items, making daily dressing easier and more enjoyable.

As you go through the process, note the gaps in your closet.

Knowing these gaps will help you make informed decisions for future purchases so each new addition fits with what you already have and adds to your cohesive chic and elegant wardrobe.

Avoid Sale Shopping and Impulse Buying

Especially after a closet cleanout, it’s natural to want to shop for new pieces to fill the gaps. And while sales can be tempting, it can easily lead to an impulse purchase that doesn’t truly fit your wardrobe or needs.

Buying new items, just because they’re on sale, usually leads to unplanned purchases and cluttering your closet with things that are low quality, don’t fit you well, wrong size, or simply don’t match other pieces in your closet.

Instead of shopping sales indiscriminately, focus on buying pieces that you truly love and need. This approach will ensure that every addition to your wardrobe is intentional and valuable, and contributes to an overall sense of elegance.

It doesn’t mean that you should never buy anything on sale, I will always encourage you to save money when possible.

When I say, ‘avoid sale shopping’, I actually mean – be careful you are not spending your hard-earned money on items you don’t really want and need, just because you feel like you’re saving when it’s on sale.

Ideally, any items should be both a ‘need’ and a ‘want’.

Build a Foundation with Elegant Wardrobe Essentials

Trends come and go, but classic wardrobe essentials remain timeless. Focus on building a foundation with versatile pieces that never go out of style.

I have been wearing the same Massimo Dutti trench coat and black trousers for over five years, and my Theory little black dress for even more. Some pieces simply don’t go out of style.

It’s easy to get caught up in the latest trends, but focusing on classics builds a closet that will truly stand the test of time.

Focus on classic and timeless styles to ensure that your wardrobe investments remain sophisticated and relevant for years to come. These pieces will form the foundation of your elegant wardrobe.

It’s important to note that classic pieces don’t have to be boring. For some items, you might want to choose a ‘basic with a twist’. These pieces will be both classic and interesting.

Invest in High-Quality Pieces

Quality over quantity is crucial when curating your classic collection, and especially your wardrobe essentials.

Purchasing low-quality ‘timeless’ items only means they’re not timeless at all. These items won’t age well and won’t be worth the investment.

If you invest in high-quality items, they’ll last you longer, even a lifetime. Purchasing high quality will ensure versatility and longevity, and will help you achieve timeless elegance and an old-money feel for your wardrobe essentials.

High-quality pieces may come with a higher price tag, but their longevity makes them worthwhile investments that can ultimately save you money in the long run.

The cost per wear of an item is what truly matters.

Be careful when you shop and check the quality first. You can find cheaply made items that cost a lot of money, and vice versa.

I bought many of my favourite items on second-hand platforms (like Vinted). It usually allows me to save on brands I know and love.

Choosing Natural Fabrics

Try to select natural fabrics like silk, linen, cashmere, wool, and cotton. Natural fabrics are key to a classy wardrobe.

They don’t only feel luxurious, but also last longer and age better than synthetic alternatives. If you want to create a polished old-money look, this is the way to go.

They are typically more breathable and durable compared to synthetic fabrics and offer unique textures and aesthetics that add to an expensive-looking and refined wardrobe.

Tailoring for the Perfect Fit

Why is tailoring important for an elegant wardrobe?

Even the most beautiful garment can look scruffy and messy if it doesn’t fit well. Of if you wear the wrong size. Tailoring your clothes to fit your body shape perfectly is a simple yet effective way to elevate your overall image.

A well-fitted garment enhances your silhouette and creates a polished and sophisticated look, making even basic clothing look refined and expensive.

Having proper tailoring will also create a flattering fit and boost your confidence. Don’t hesitate to take your pieces to a professional tailor to achieve that perfect fit.

A quick tip: Aim to understand basic sawing and tailoring terms. It will help you find the correct tailor, and understand what is or isn’t possible to change in a specific garment.

This skin type is more prone to enlarged pores and acne because of excess sebum production. Be mindful of heavily moisturising products and opt for lighter formulas that help control shine. Remember, drying out your skin and skipping moisturiser may be tempting, but it can backfire and lead to even more oil production.

Dry Skin:

Does your skin feel tight, flaky, or appear dull, especially after cleansing or by the end of the day? These are classic of a dry skin type. Easy Skincare Tips: The Art of Layering Skincare

Have you ever applied your thickest, richest moisturiser, only to feel like your skin is still dehydrated?

Consider this tip: think of your skin as a sponge. If you cover a dry sponge with a thick layer of moisturiser, would it become more hydrated? Just like with a sponge, it’s essential to ensure your skin is well hydrated first, before sealing in that hydration with your moisturiser.

Build your skincare products from thin to thick. The number of products (and layers) you use, will depend on your skin type and preference.

Start with a toner or essence (an optional step, yet one of my favourites), which has the thinnest consistency. In this step, aim for products that will balance your skin. I usually like using 2 to 3 layers of a soothing toner for my combination and acne-prone skin.

Move on to a serum or ampule, which usually has a thicker consistency. In this step, target your main skin concern with the correct ingredients. I usually opt for using a vitamin C serum. After your skin feels supple, complete the routine by sealing the hydration with a moisturiser (and of course, a sunscreen during the daytime).

Daily Sunscreen: Your Skin’s Best Defence

One essential step in any skincare routine is the consistent use of sunscreen. Regardless of weather or season, protecting your skin from harmful UV rays is crucial for maintaining its health and youthfulness. Sunscreen not only prevents sunburn but also guards against premature ageing and dark spots.

Incorporate sunscreen with at least SPF 30 (I personally prefer SPF 50) into your daily regimen, applying it generously to all exposed areas, including your face, neck, and hands. Reapply every two hours, especially during prolonged outdoor exposure.

Korean sunscreens are particularly popular for their lightweight textures, high SPF, and advanced formulations. They blend seamlessly into the skin, look great under makeup, and often include additional skincare benefits like hydration and antioxidants.

Learning how to have a proper posture and the right way to carry ourselves elegantly is important to us all. A correct posture instantly makes us look more attractive, feminine, confident, and elegant.

To me, there is nothing more elegant than a woman who knows how to carry herself well.

Can you imagine an elegant woman with a slouchy posture? The very notion is absurd. A woman can wear the most expensive dress, display the most detailed makeup, and present the most meticulous hairstyle, but if her posture is bad, the magic is gone.

A woman of true elegance does not slouch at a work meeting or slump her shoulders at the dining table; she is careful to keep her posture poised, straight, and tall wherever she goes.

Unfortunately, our modern lifestyle does nothing but diminish posture. We spend countless hours sitting at the computer table or watching TV, and usually do so with slouchy posture.

With a little attention and effort, we can easily learn how to maintain a proper posture and present ourselves with poise and elegance.

How to have a proper posture – from head to toe

Let’s break down the elements that affect our posture and address each of them separately.

Keep your head high:

Imagine that a helium-filled balloon is connected to the top of your head; the balloon pulls your entire body up, keeping your head high.

While you pull your head high, it is important to maintain your chin parallel to the ground.

A chin that is pointed upward can create an arrogant look, which is completely different from the confident, elegant look that we wish to achieve. Alternatively, if your chin is pointed down you can appear shy or insecure.

Keep your head high and your chin in the happy middle – parallel to the ground.

Roll your shoulders backwards and downwards:

The position of our shoulders greatly affects our posture and can even “make or break” our entire appearance; slouchy shoulders can instantly make us look lazy and sloppy.

Roll your shoulders backwards and downwards; that position will automatically bring your chest higher and create a confident look.

Now, ladies, let’s address a common mistake. Many women know that they need to roll their shoulders backwards, but miss the “downwards” part.

A “back and up” movement (even just slightly up) can create a stressed and tensed look; a tensed look is definitely not the goal that we are aiming for.

Use this simple practice to ease your shoulders into the correct position:

Stand in front of a mirror and roll your shoulders backwards several times. After you get used to the rolling motion, drop your shoulders downwards dramatically. Don’t be afraid to be a bit theatrical – this exercise is just used to find the right spot. The dramatic “drop-down” will give you the feeling of where your shoulders should be.

Tuck your belly in:

Have you ever heard the old saying “a man’s chest should enter the room before his belly”? Well, as much as that adage applies to men, I think that it is also applicable to women (with the exception of pregnant ladies, of course).

Remember to activate your muscles and tuck your belly in whenever you stand, walk, or sit. Slightly tucking our belly helps supporting our back and gives a more elongated, straight posture.

Keep your hips aligned:

Unfortunately, people usually forget the importance of hip placement. Personally, I consider hip placement key to good posture.

Many women tend to place their weight on one hip and to slouch towards their other, slightly bent hip (usually while placing a hand on their waist). Some might consider that pose “feminine”, but it can also appear sloppy.

If you want to elevate your posture, place your weight on one hip and then rotate the other hip upward; by doing so, you will achieve a more open, feminine and elevated look.

Gain self-awareness and check yourself:

If you want to improve your posture (or anything else for that matter), you have to gain self-awareness. Check your posture throughout the day and make small changes and fixes when needed.

Try to identify your weaknesses. Ask yourself which part of your posture you should strengthen and improve. Is it your abdominal muscles that find it hard to stay tucked, or perhaps your shoulders that keep slopping forward?

Once you’ve identified the weaknesses in your posture, you can start working to improve those weaknesses when walking, standing, and sitting.

With a bit of self-awareness and practice you can better your posture and present yourself with poise and elegance.

Simple ways to improve your posture:

There are many ways to improve our posture and to achieve our desired, elegant, silhouette.

The first (and most obvious way) is to practice good posture on a daily basis. Muscle’s memory is an important part of having a proper posture, and you can achieve it simply be practicing correct posture regularly.

Dance classes can also be a great option for improving your posture, confidence, and overall poise. Personally, I believe that any woman can benefit from some kind of dance classes. You can choose from many styles of dance. Whether you prefer to practice ballet, contemporary, salsa, or even pole dance – there is something for every personality and character.

Another option is to do some sort of strength or flexibility exercises (preferably both). Correct posture can also come from having a strong core and flexible muscles. Practice yoga or build a workout plan for the gym to better your posture naturally.

Do you prefer to practice with the help of an online guide at the comfort of own home, or to take professional classes at a studio or a gym? No matter the way you choose – the simplest steps can quickly change the way you present and carry yourself. Simply pick the method (or methods) that fits best with your lifestyle and make it a habit.

Finding the right fragrance can be quite complicated; use the tips in this article to decide upon your unique scent.

What is a signature scent:

A signature scent is a scent that is closely associated with you and your identity; it is a way of leaving a unique mark wherever you go. Having a signature fragrance means that you wear it so often that eventually it represents you.

Why should you own a signature scent:

With today’s accessibility to affordable, mass-produced perfumes, you may think that having a signature scent is a bit outdated. With that being said, having a signature scent is a classy, elegant approach to the concept of fragrance.

A signature scent is a woman’s perfect accessory; it creates an invisible aura that lingers behind you and subtly allows you to express a little bit of your personality, character, and individual style.

According to my philosophy, each and every one of us nurtures and develops her own personal brand.

I own my brand; everything that I am, everything that I do, and everything that I present is a part of my identity and my quality. The way I speak, the way I carry myself, the way I dress, and even the way I smell greatly affect the way that others perceive me and identify me.

Let’s face it: choosing a signature fragrance can often be a daunting experience; to do so, you stand in front of lines of shelves lined with bottles and bottles of ‘Parfum’, ‘Eau de parfum’, ‘Eau de toilette’, and ‘Cologne’. The plethora of choices and scents is confusing, and leaves you with a question: which fragrance is the perfect choice?

These five tips will show you how to find your signature scent and avoid experiencing a disappointing panic-purchase.

Define your style:

Before you start the search for the ultimate signature scent, think about your personal brand and style. Define who you are and what you want your fragrance to express about you.

Do you want a classy and formal scent, or a sweet and playful one? a fragrance that will turn heads while you walk into a room, or perhaps one that will be more subtle and intimate?

A signature scent should be able to implicitly share a bit of your story.

It is quite easy to give in to temptation and to buy the new, trendy fragrance that the salesperson suggests. Be mindful and make sure that your fragrance of choice reflects your personal style, brand, and identity.

Test each perfume:

Once you’ve defined your style, head to your favorite fragrance store and test, test, test! Try out as many scents as possible before you decide which one to choose.

While it’s important to test a variety of scents, it is also important to do so in moderation. After testing about three products, our ability to capture the true nature of a fragrance decreases significantly. Test three fragrances and then take a short break to refresh your nose.

A quick tip: test the fragrances on a blotter to keep your wrists clean for your favorite one.

Don’t rush – always leave and return later:

After you’ve tested several scents on the blotter and found one that pleases you, spray a tester on your wrists.

Let’s stop and address a common misconception: don’t rub your wrists together! Rubbing perfumes ruins the delicate molecules of the substance and corrupts its quality. Spray both of your wrists lightly and just leave them be.

Once you’ve sprayed your preferred tester, leave the store and wear the fragrance for the rest of the day. Take your time; don’t rush to buy the whole bottle then and there.

Fragrances reveal their notes over time; the scent that you first smell in the store will change throughout the day. Explore the scent’s notes and longevity for a full day before you spend your hard-earned money.

Treat perfumes as an investment:

High-quality perfumes are not cheap; they often contain rare ingredients and oil extracts that raise the price. On the other hand, cheaper fragrances often include common ingredients or synthetic chemicals.

Your signature scent is a long-run investment in your personal brand; the amount that you are willing to spend on it is entirely up to you. Do your research and make sure that you completely love the fragrance and its quality before you purchase a bottle. Treat yourself with an investment piece that will serve you well; you won’t regret your pricy purchase and you’ll happily throw any other cheap perfume that was bought on a whim.

To me, a well-made fragrance that makes me feel incredible is worth every penny.

Build a collection of signature scents:

You don’t have to settle on just one signature scent. Our mood fluctuates and the weather changes throughout the year, and therefore sticking to one scent might be too limiting.

You may want to wear a light scent for spring and summer, and a warmer scent for autumn and winter. Perhaps you like to wear a floral scent during the day, and a musky scent at night. The decision is totally up to you.

Create a small collection of scents that you can choose from. You can separate your signature scents according to season, daytime, or any other criterion. .

Remember to limit yourself to the right extent. When you have a large collection of signature scents, you run the risk of having no signature at all. My personal recommendation is to keep two to four fragrances per collection.

An interesting fact: if we smell the same scent every day, our nose adjusts to the scent and we stop noticing it. Getting used to a scent can happen with perfumes, scented candles, and even with the natural scent of our home.

When our nose adjusts to our signature fragrance, we can suddenly feel unimpressed with the scent; we may even apply too much. Owning a small collection of signature scents can solve this problem.

Give your nose a “break” from time to time by wearing a different fragrance or occasionally skip using a perfume for a day.

Women’s empowerment and why I don’t support its idea

We’ve all heard popular phrases such as “be an empowered woman” or “empowered women run the world;” those phrases are ubiquitous. Some T-shirts even bear slogans such as “babes empower babes” or “women empower women” – but what is women’s empowerment?

The meaning of women’s empowerment:

The concept of “women’s empowerment” (or female empowerment) was created to raise the status of women in society.

“Women’s empowerment” encourages women to gain power and control over their own lives and to achieve a sense of self-worth.

My thoughts on women’s empowerment:

This statement may surprise you, but I, for one, think that we should get rid of the term “women’s empowerment.”

Ladies, let’s think about the meaning of the word “empowerment” – it is a word whose tone is completely passive.

To empower means “to give (someone) the authority or power to do something.”

By the very definition of the word, to become “empowered” a woman requires another person to empower her! If women must receive power, who is entitled to give it to them? Presumably, someone who already possesses it.

The whole concept of “empowerment”, without meaning to do so, is almost patriarchal in nature. Is supposed enhancement through a dependency on an external agent truly something to appreciate?

I hold that true value comes from within – that prominent and estimable women derive their worth from their inner qualities, and not from external intervention; in a word: independence.

About femininity, elegance, power, and responsibility:

Let’s dive deeper into the meaning of the term “women’s empowerment” and address the root of the word – power. What does it mean to become “empowered”, if not to receive power? But, ladies, is power truly what we should strive for?

In my opinion, power – either physical, political, or otherwise – is not an important aspect of people’s lives, regardless of gender.

To me, the word “power” holds some negative connotations, and I much prefer “responsibility”. Power allows people to manipulate others, whereas responsibility mandates care.

An elegant woman takes responsibility over herself and her surroundings, rather than exerts power over others.

Power and elegance:

The word “power” etymologically stems from a physical meaning of virility, whereas elegance has nothing to do with physical strength. In fact, using “powerful” or “empowered” as a point of reference hints at a system of measurement in which physical strength determines worth. Ladies, do we really need power to derive worth?

A woman who is truly confident can embrace her femininity and take the word “power” out of the equation. Women can be gentle and graceful, intelligent and successful, and independent and self-sufficient without striving for power.

Let’s stop the endless race for power! No one has to empower us or to entitle us; our worth can come from within.

I believe that each and every one of us can choose her own path and build her own future. Choose to become the best version of yourself. Set goals, and continually work towards them.

Add elegance to your life by deriving your self-worth from within.

Wine etiquette and tips for elegant and refined women

Wine is a famously sophisticated beverage and an essential component of almost every social occasion; it is an indispensable part of social gatherings, dinners, and events. Some of us may even enjoy sipping wine in the comfort of our own home (while preparing a meal or watching a movie). Considering the popularity and the ‘sophisticated’ reputation that wine has gained over the years, it is important to study and practice wine etiquette.

Some might claim that life is gradually becoming more informal and casual, and that that change also applies to manners. That claim may be true to some extent, but I still hold that wine etiquette is beneficial – even necessary – to everyone.

No one wants to be the person who can’t properly hold a wine glass in a formal event. Faulty manners might even lead some to endlessly examine and sniff a cheap wine bottle in an average restaurant.

In this article, I will walk you through the basic do’s and don’ts of wine etiquette; these guidelines will help you navigate the path to an elegant wine experience in both professional and social settings.

Five social wine etiquette rules that you should know:

Pouring wine:

When you pour your wine, make sure to not overfill your glass. Firstly, a full glass cannot be swirled to properly enjoy and appreciate the wine’s taste and aromas. Secondly, overfilling your glass can almost seem like you are trying to hog the wine – an appearance that is far from elegant.

Make sure to follow these guidelines:

Pour your wine until your glass is one-third to half full; never fill your glass to the brim!

Try to keep the amount of wine in your glass equivalent to the amount in the glasses of others.

Always offer to fill others’ glasses before you fill your own.

Proper glass holding:

Elegant women carry things properly: themselves, their bags, and definitely their wine glasses.

Wine glasses were specifically designed for a reason, and should be held properly. A stemmed glass should be held by the stem, and not by the bowl, for three reasons:

Holding a glass by its bowl leaves unattractive smudges and finger marks.

Our hands generate warmth that can change the temperature of the wine, which should be slightly cool. By holding our wine glass by the stem, we maintain the correct temperature of the beverage for a longer period.

Holding a glass by the stem instantly looks more dainty and elegant.

Display good wine etiquette by holding your wine glass by the stem. Holding your wine glass properly may take a little while to get used to, but it eventually becomes a second nature.

A quick note: you may occasionally come across wine experts who hold their glass of red wine as a tennis ball, with the stem falling between their fingers. Such a way of holding the glass is meant to warm the temperature of the wine if it is too cool (red wine should be served a bit warmer than white or sparkling wine). If you are not a wine expert, who completely understands wine temperatures, I advise you to stick with the stem.

Sniff tests:

One of the steps of properly drinking wine is to do a sniff test before you taste it. A quick test can determine whether the wine is faulty or suitable for drinking. Also, a brief sniff test, especially after you gently swirl the wine, can help you smell the aromas of the wine and make your wine drinking experience more enjoyable and memorable.

With that being said, long sniff tests do not fit any place or occasion. If you spend too much time sniffing and appreciating your wine in a business dinner or in a casual restaurant, you can come across as pompous and pretentious.

Save long sniffs only to high-end restaurants, wine tasting rooms, and to the comfort of your own home; keep your tests short, sweet, and simple everywhere else.

Avoiding marks:

We usually drink our wine slowly, and take many breaks between each sip; by doing so, we can leave multiple mouth mark on the glass. Such marks are neither pleasant nor elegant.

Learn from the female members of the British royalty, who minimize their marks by always drinking from the same part of the glass. This rule is especially important for women who wear lipstick.

Toast etiquette:

Celebrations and social gatherings with wine can often involve a toast and a clinking of glasses.

Firstly, if you clink your glass, do so carefully and gently; otherwise, you might break someone’s glass or your own. Make sure to clink the central part of the bowl, because the edge is very fragile.

Secondly, be elegant and polite; refrain from crossing other people’s arms to secure a clink.

Thirdly, always look your toasting-partner in the eyes.

Lastly, know that you can always choose to make a subtle gesture in the air; you don’t always have to physically clink the glasses.

A final word about wine etiquette:

As elegant women, we should always strive to follow proper etiquette and manners in all aspects of our life. With that being said, don’t worry about etiquette so much as to mar your enjoyment.

These wine etiquette guidelines are here to help you enjoy the experience and to leave a good impression. If you struggle with any guideline or rule, gradually change it until it becomes easy. Eventually, like any other habit in life, etiquette and manners will become natural.

In fact, social media etiquette is sometimes as important as “regular” etiquette.

What is social media etiquette?

Social media etiquette refers to the basic guidelines and rules for our behavior online, and across different social media channels.

Like social etiquette, which dictates our behavior around others in real-life situations, social media etiquette helps us by setting simple guidelines for our actions and attitude online.

Why should we follow social media etiquette?

Social media is merely another way for us to communicate with others and share a bit of our life. Etiquette rules and manners are necessary to help us properly navigate any social media channel; those rules and guidelines help us to prevent unpleasant situations online and to preserve our reputation as elegant women not just in “real-life” but also in the digital environment.

Five social media etiquette rules that you should know:

Use caution when posting and tagging others:

Whenever you post a photo, or anything else that is related to others, ask the related persons whether they feel comfortable about the post, and only then upload or tag.

Tagging a friend in a group photo or in a “check-in” may seem harmless to some, but asking for permission first is important. Avoid unpleasant situations and respect the privacy and preferences of others.

Furthermore, if your friend asks you to not upload a picture from your last vacation online, respect her request and do not pressure her to change her mind – even if it’s your favorite one!

Remember that social media is meant to enhance relationships – not to injure them.

Use humor carefully:

Senses of humor are not universal, and the things and jokes that you might find funny are equally likely to offend others.

Remember that your actions on social media reach well beyond your close friends and family members. When you choose to use humor in your posts or comments, do so carefully and make sure that your humor is appropriate.

Do not engage in online arguments:

Unfortunately, rudeness and arguments on social media have become common, and almost accepted. People are usually less scrupulous about manners when they’re hidden behind a screen or under the guise of relative anonymity.

Many people are easily triggered and get sucked into vulgar debates and arguments. Comments and opinions that might be accepted politely in the “real-world” can often escalate to unpleasant conflicts on social media.

Be aware of your image, and maintain your elegance by keeping an amicable tone at all times. If you’d like to take your elegance and social media etiquette one step further, make an effort to avoid expressing your opinion on sensitive subjects altogether.

Be modest:

As I wrote in my “how to be an elegant woman” article: modesty is eye-catching. If you wish to be more elegant and sophisticated, choose to be modest both online and offline.

Especially on social media, many women choose to “put their body on display” to draw more attention and likes. It is quite easy to go with the flow, forget our standards, and show a bit more skin online than we would in our daily life.

Be elegant by maintaining your modesty on social media, and remember that, when displayed correctly, the subtle and the hidden can be even more appealing than the bold and the ostentatious.

Avoid sharing too much:

We all carry our phones wherever we go. The act of posting and sharing on social media is simple, quick, and often spontaneous. As a result, many people tend to share too much of their private life on social media.

While sharing occasional photos of our dinner or vacation in Paris can be enjoyable, it is important to remember that our private life is our personal concern, and not something to be advertised.

Avoid “constant posting” – your online followers do not have to know what you are doing at any given moment.

Do not use social media to vent your emotions – keep any personal drama offline.

Avoid posting intimate details about your family members, friends, or partners.

Do not “check-in” wherever you go.

Remember that your time with your loved ones is far more valuable than a new picture that you can post online. Put your phone down, be appreciative, and just enjoy the company – things happen even if you don’t capture them!

Our actions on social media and online move faster than our actions in the offline world; our online activities can reach hundreds and thousands of people in a matter of minutes and seconds.

Remember the power and the effect of your actions both online and offline. Maintain a polite behavior, display kindness, and be respectful in all of your actions.
