The concept of Simplify Elegance started many years ago. I was sitting at a café, enjoying my morning coffee, when I saw a young woman in a mid-length tied-up coat and a casual, wavy hairdo stroll gracefully in.
She paused and observed the room, as if looking for something. Eventually, she walked slowly and easily to a table by the window and sat down, delicately rested her hand on the table, and watched the rainy sky as if it were a June sunshine.
I was stunned. It wasn’t the woman’s legs, which weren’t exceptionally long, nor was it her complexion, which wasn’t particularly beautiful. It was her attitude, the way she carried herself in perfect harmony with her surroundings.
That was the moment that sparked my interest in elegance.
I’ve always been inspired by strong, feminine women; I often think about their quotes, and try to find new opportunities to integrate their ideas into my daily life.
Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance says Coco Chanel. Elegance, therefore, is not defined by abundance, but in fact – the opposite is true. Elegance comes from simplicity and moderation.
Modern conceptions, propounded by social media, assert that to be elegant is to be tacky, excessive, and wasteful; but Chanel invites us to look beyond simple appearances. To her, elegance is a statement, an attitude – a way of being.
To me, it’s clear that the woman in the café personified Chanel’s idea; her simple, unassuming elegance encouraged me to search for a better understanding of my own style and womanhood.
I believe that the art of elegance can indeed be simplified. I’ve created this site with the purpose of offering a fresh perspective and helping women find their unique elegance in our modern world.
